A 75-year-old man has died after he was in collision with an Audi A2 car in Stretford last night.

Police were called just after 8pm on Jan 16th to reports of the collision on Chester Road in Stretford.

The male pedestrian who was from Stretford suffered fatal injuries and was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Paramedics also came to the aid of the driver who remained at the scene, he was treated for shock.

Chester Road was closed for six hours whilst investigations were carried out, and no arrests have been made.

Police Sergeant John Harrison-Gough of GMP’s Serious Collision Unit said: “We have specially trained officers supporting the family at this incredibly difficult time and our thoughts remain with them.

“Our investigation to establish the full circumstances surrounding the collision remains ongoing and I would ask anyone who has any information, CCTV or dash-cam footage to please contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit.

“I would also urge anyone that thinks they may have seen the elderly man walking in the area before the collision to please get in touch.”
