YouTube new monetization rules will hit many channels in February

YouTube the popular video sharing site is to change the way things run from Feb 20th and some people will not like it.

From that date anyone with less than 1000 subscribers and less than 4000 hours of watch time in a year will be removed from the YouTube partner programme which means you will not be able to monetize your channel, all tools will be withdrawn and no adverts will be on any of your videos.

YouTube say that once you have reached the threshold, and satisfy their draconian rules you will be back on the programme, however we think then since they have brought in this rule which will hit millions of channels around the world, would it be better that once you got to 1000 subscribers and 4000 hours of watch time, that they reduced the £60 threshold so you can make a few quid a little sooner?

It will be seen though as a challenge to many, getting subscribers is not as easy as getting followers on Twitter, so to channels all over the message is very clear today, either take more interest in your channel and let it grow, or make no money.
