Comedian Ken Dodd has sadly died aged 90 according to his publicist, he had recently had a stay in hospital for a serious chest infection.

The Liverpool comedian has said that he was going to return to the stage, telling reporters that he had written some new jokes.

Ken was born on November 8 1927 in Knotty Ash in Liverpool, it is believed he died in the same house.

He was more than just a comedian, he also made many songs and starred on many TV shows.

It was not all great for the comedian, in 1989 was charged with tax evasion in which it took three weeks for the judge to acquit him, in 2001 he and his wife was stalked for a time by a woman who ended up pleading guilty to harassment and arson at a north-west court.

His singing career was successful selling over 1.5m singles and reaching number one in the singles chart with the song ‘Tears’ other songs like Happiness reached number 31 in 1964 and Love is like a violin reached number 8 in 1960.

Ken dodd was truly one great all round entertainer, a true legend that with his diddy men and tickle sticks will live on forever.
