Plain clothed police officer grabbed by the neck in Partington

A plain clothed police officer was assaulted after he searched a male on New William Close in Partington during last week.

The officer stopped the male as he smelt strong of cannabis and was acting in an unusual way, the officer began to search him, the male then grabbed hold of the officers neck and punched him on his chest, the male then pushed the officer so hard he ended up on the floor.

After getting back on his feet, the officer was able to arrest the male for possession of a controlled substance and assaulting a police officer, the male was then taken into custody.
