Trafford MV vets enjoyed a winning weekend against Congleton and a nice surprise for rugby fans

Trafford MV vets took on Congleton vets at the weekend on what was a great day for open rugby.

Both teams played each other before in the friendly and knew it was going to be a well contested game, some of the players who are over 35-years-old shown some quality during the game.

The deceptive pace of some of the players was game managed by the heavy packs who slowed the game down to their pace when ever the opportunity came! MV ran out eventual winners but all the players enjoyed the well contested fixture. The teams got together afterwards to partake in Rugby hospitality at The Oddballs Beer Bash at Trafford MV HQ.

This weekend MV 1st XV are back in action with Widnes visiting MacPherson Park in round 2 of the ADM Premier League Cup. MV played Widnes only 2 weeks ago and the visitors went away with the league points on that occasion although MV collected a bonus point from a 30-36 defeat.

MV will hope to turn the tables and progress through to the next round of the Cup. Kick Off is as 2.15pm and MV invite local rugby fans to come and watch the game free of charge and support local amateur Rugby.
