Huge section of an Altrincham cinema’s roof blew off in stormy weather

A huge section of ‘The Vue’ cinema’s roof blew off in stormy weather this morning leading to police closing down roads around the Denmark Street area.

Trains were also not running due to the track being so close to the cinema, emergency services could not take any chances and the line was shut for a while.

Police confirmed that all roads are now cleared and the structure is now safe, trains are also now able to operate as normal.

We are not at this time aware of any injuries although will further update this article when more is known.

Experts who deal with roofing were on the scene looking at the damage and an investigation is currently underway.
