Man dies in Manchester City Centre following a collision with a truck

A man has died following a collision with a truck in Manchester City Centre.

Shortly after 9.20am today (Tuesday 19 February 2019), police were called to reports of a collision between a truck and a pedestrian on New York Street in Manchester City Centre.

Emergency services attended and the pedestrian – a man believed to be in his 50’s – was taken to hospital where he sadly died from his injuries.

New York Street remains closed while investigation work is carried out.

A 48-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving. He remains in custody for questioning.
