Hundreds of children and animals have been found buried in an ancient 15th century grave on the coastline in Peru.

The grave is 700m squared and archeologists unearthed over 140 boys and girls thought to be aged between 5 and 14-years-old, they found animals such as llamas.
The children and animals were found with cuts to the chest, it is thought they were killed due to a bizarre ritual of them times.
Interestingly the girls and boys were buried facing towards the sea and the animals facing towards some mountains.
The remains were found in mud which was radiocarbon dated back to 1450AD.
Archeologists who found the remains have said “We have never seen anything like this before, the size and scale of this mass grave was amazing to see”
No one really knows why the kids and animals were killed although because of the way they were all positioned and the red paint that was on the faces of the children and the towel around the head suggests a ritual took place and something about a flood.
