Sky and 21st Century Fox had already said they were to stop sponsoring the worlds most successful pro cycling team although did not expand on why this was.

David Brailsford’s cycling team that includes Chris Froome and Geraint Thomas will be relieved since their was no genuine sponsor in place, INEOSwill pay for everything and keep the team together and very likely to enhance the team.

INEOS though are a fracking company, and it will come with it some very unhappy people, the claims are that INEOS are trying to gloss over the harm they are doing to the environment which is not good for the teams ‘Green’ image.

Fans of Team Sky will also be a little annoyed if they had bought the kit for this year which is actually one of the best they have made to date, and now fans will need to buy the new kit, just so long as they do not go anywhere near a fracking site, we suggest learning how to duck so they can protect themselves from all the oranges and apples coming their way.

Whatever you think of the decision for INEOS to be the new sponsor of Team Sky, for the team to be able to stay together and enhances for years to come is a good thing, and good for British Cycling.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Chairman and Chief Executive of INEOS, said: “Cycling is a great endurance and tactical sport that is gaining ever more popularity around the world. Equally, cycling continues to mushroom for the general public as it is seen to be good for fitness and health, together with easing congestion and pollution in city environments. INEOS is delighted to take on the responsibility of running such a professional team.”
