One of the best newspaper editors that helped keep The Messenger alive has sadly been made redundant.

Mike Crutchley has been editor of Messenger Newspapers for over 5-years in that time he has with his staff covered some amazing stories and key moments and has added new platforms like Wayne’s World, Trafford most wanted and agony aunt with Susan Leigh.

Messenger Newspapers had seemingly hit financial troubles, moving from place to place, cutting its print in half and some of the best journalists went elsewhere.

The newspaper found itself with no Trafford based journalists, and was run from Bolton since he paper left its Sale base last year.

The now former editor Mike Crutchley, said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in charge of The Messenger when we have been privileged to report on some key moments in Trafford’s history.

“We have added some fantastic new platforms such as Wayne’s World, Traffords Most Wanted and our agony aunt Susan Leigh.

“I hope Messenger has moved on since I took over in 2014 and look forward to the new editor ‘Karl’ continuing this journey.

He is a seasoned journalist who cares as much about print and online as I do.”

News4Trafford has helped Messenger in the past with some stories and wishes Mike all the best for the future.
