Urmston landlord has raised over £15K climbing Kilimanjaro for charity

Landlord Ian Slamon of The ‘Lord Nelson’ in Urmston and three customers have succesfully reached the summit of Kilimanjaro for charity.

They raised much-needed money for the redevelopment of Christies CT department to the tune of £15,000 and another £1000 to come.

Ian and his three customers who came with him (Jason Boyle, Ciaran McKeever and John McCarrol) reached the top of the biggest mountain in Tanzania which is over 19,000ft at these altitudes it’s incredibly hard to breathe.

The four of them left for the climb on June 20th 2019.

This is reaching new heights for Ian who continues (often with his wife Julie by his side) to get vital funding for the community through charity work.

In the past, they have climbed Mount Toubkal in Morocco, a tandem skydive at 15.000ft and a zip wire at Emirates Old Trafford.

After the 19,341ft climb up Kilimanjaro Ian and co will take a short break and will be good to go again on possibly another charity project.
