Police respond fast to reports of an armed robbery at Sainsbury’s in Altrincham

Armed robbery at Sainsbury’s on Lloyd Street in Altrincham this morning.

At around 11.55am on Wednesday 25 September 2019, police were called to reports of an armed robbery at Sainsbury’s on Lloyd St in Altrincham.

Three men – who were wielding machetes – entered the store through the customer entrance and demanded a quantity of cash from the till.

There have been no reports of any injuries, but staff were left understandably shaken.

The offenders made off with a quantity of cash in a black car down Pownall Road, mounted the kerb and a grass verge before heading towards Hale Road.

Officers attended and a cordon was in place at the scene whilst investigation work was carried out. This has since been lifted.

No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.
