The US Food and and drug administration has issued a voluntary recall of a popular heartburn drug that could cause cancer.

Zantac is available in the UK and has not been recalled until the results of the FDA tests on the drug, its chemical name is ranitidine and the claim is the medicine contains low levels of NDMA (N-nitrosodimethylamine) which is classed as a carcinogen.
One store (CVS) in the US has already recalled the medication and the FDA are also asking other retailers to stop selling the tablets until more tests are done.

Whilst tests are on going in the US many other places have recalled the medication such as Canada and France, the EU is currently investigating before making any further announcements.
FDA suggests the over the counter medication should not be used by anyone and to find something else and stay clear of ranitidine, we suggest people in the UK do the same.
