Former news presenter Peter Sissons has died aged 77

Former BBC and ITN news presenter Peter Sissons has died aged 77.

Sissons who also presented Question time passed away peacefully last night October 1st at Maidstone Hospital in Kent.

He was born in Liverpool and was one of four brothers, it is believed Sissons went to the same school as John Lennon and Jimmy Tarbuck, once he had passed his 11 plus he attended a school in 1953 with people like George Harrison and Paul McCartney!

Sissons joined ITV in 1964 where he was a presenter on the One o’clock news, he also became ITN’s Industrial Editor and did various other roles co presenting election specials.

His ITV days came to an end in 1989 when he ended up at the BBC taking over Robin Day as the presenter of Question Time, he went on to host the nine o’clock and ten o’clock news.
