Man who fell into the Bridgewater Canal in Altrincham has died

Officers were called to reports of a man who had been found in the canal in Altrincham at around 3pm on Saturday 6 October.

Police, fire and ambulance attended and the man in his 60’s was pulled from the Bridgewater Canal by a joint effort.

He was taken to Wythenshawe hospital where, despite best efforts of the emergency services, he sadly died.

There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.
