Tributes have been paid to Trafford Labour Councillor Jane Baugh who sadly passed away last night 26 February 20.
Jane who served as councillor in the Broadheath ward and until her death in the Priory Ward, she was also a Trafford Mayor from 2011/2012.
She did many things for the community in which she served including being part of the Friends of Worthington Park Group.
Tributes came in once it was known she had died:
Andrew Western said:
“I am devastated by this news. Jane was an incredibly committed and passionate Councillor who always fought for what she believed in. She was a linchpin in the Sale community.
“Jane was an astonishingly talented politician. A brilliant speaker and a fearless advocate she was at her best in the Council Chamber championing the causes she felt strongly about.
“She was a force of nature. I will miss Jane’s friendship, her encouragement and her support. Most of all I will miss one of the most robust and steadfast voices I have ever known railing against poverty, injustice and intolerance. My thoughts are with Peter and all her family. Rest in peace Jane, you have been an inspiration to us all.”
The Mayor of Trafford’s twitter account said:
“The Mayor is saddened at the passing of Councillor Mrs Jane Baugh.
“Jane served with distinction as a councillor for Broadheath Ward from 1990 to 2004, and for Priory Ward from 2004 to the present day.
“Jane also enjoyed a successful year as Mayor of Trafford in 2011/12.”
Brooklands councillor Steven Longden said:
“Really sad to learn about Cllr Jane Baugh’s passing today, She was a leading light of @TraffordLabour over the decades, reaching out to everyone in the party and community, Sincere condolences to all her family and friends.”
Sale Moor councillor MIke Freeman said:
“In Cllr Jane Baugh #Trafford has lost a political icon, I will miss Jane greatly for her wise counsel & friendship she gave.
“She worked tirelessly for the community & touched the lives of many, my thoughts are with Peter & her family at this very sad time.”
