Two males arrested after a robbery in Altrincham and are suspected of other robberies in Trafford

Police responded after getting reports on 6 June 2020 of a robbery in progress in Stamford Park Altrincham.

On arrival it was established the offenders left the scene on a tram, officers from the transport unit and with helicopter support attended the area around Dane Road Metrolink Station in Sale and on the Bridgewater Canal tow path.

A 16-year-old male was arrested who it was believed he had been suspected to be involved and a 17-year-old male was arrested after trying to hide from police in bushes at Waterside in Sale, they flagged down a cab they had ordered earlier to get away however the car they flagged down was an unmarked police car.

It is suspected the males involved have committed a number of robberies in the Trafford area of the past few weeks, travelling into the area using the Metrolink Service which is heavily covered by CCTV.

Enquiries are ongoing and police will be looking to link them to other recent robberies in the area.

Police have thanked local residents for their assistance in yesterday’s incident and helping us to bring a number of offenders to justice.
