Pubs were back open today whilst some remained closed

Many pubs were allowed to open today 4 July 2020 some of them though remained closed.

Opinion was mixed on the re-opening of the pubs, some were concerned at the way pubs were allowed to open as early as 6am, and others thought it was crazy since once people get a bit drunk social distancing goes out of the window.

We read a public order incident was called at a pub in Flixton this evening, with police telling people not to come down to the Garricks Head on Moorside Road.

The idea that some establishments might have taken all your details even before you got in was a little bit bizarre and could have caused some issues for whoever was chosen to take the details.

We noted Kings Ransom and The Pelican Inn Pub was closed, and on the Greene King website a small notice said: “Despite the government announcement that pubs can open again on 4 July 2020, we are unfortunately closed for now.

“We continue to work in the background on getting open in the future, so please keep an eye out for further updates.”

Only bit of life at The Pelican Inn was a window at the top wide open, with no signs of life anywhere and a rotting Altrincham Lodge at the back things look bleak.
