Former Manchester United manager Tommy Docherty has died aged 92

Former Manchester United manager Tommy Docherty who famously guided United back to Division One in the 70’s has sadly passed away aged 92.

Docherty also won the FA Cup in 1977 had great success at United, he was and always will be a fans favourite at United, and all have been stunned by this news after celebrating the birthday of the most successful manager in world football Alex Ferguson.

Tommy Docherty success came to a halt after some issues where he breached protocol and was sacked, paving the way for Dave Sexton, it was widely reported Docherty refused to leave at the time.

The standard of football Docherty wanted United to play was an attacking style, something United fans have always liked. he was an incredible manager of his time.

A sokesperson for Manchester United tweeted “We are deeply saddened by the passing of Tommy Docherty, who led us to FA Cup victory in 1977 with a thrilling, attacking team in the best traditions of Manchester United. Everyone at the club sends sincere condolences to Tommy’s loved ones.”

Tommy died at his home peacefully after a long undisclosed illness.
