The pop up food bank for Trafford residents, based in Urmston, has been a lifeline over the Christmas and New Year period to those families and individuals in the borough who were struggling to get by due to the extra pressure put on them by the current Covid-19 pandemic, lockdowns and furloughs.

Based at Urmston Masonic Hall on Westbourne Road, Urmston, he foodbank opened at the beginning of December as an initiative by the West Lancashire Freemasons who joined together to support their respective communities.

Here in Trafford the local Freemasons teamed up with The Forget Me Not Trust, local businesses and individuals to make the pop up food bank a total success.

Urmston Freemason and food bank coordinator Shaun Brookhouse said. “The success of the foodbank is a testament to how Freemasons can work with the community to make the world a better place.”

The food bank is open Mondays and Fridays from noon until 3pm and will continue to run until the 31st of January. Should you, or anyone you know, be in need of the assistance of the food bank you can contact Shaun on 07506 732400 or email
