Valentines Day is about love! for some women things are sadly very different

Valentine’s Day on Sunday 14 February 2021, is fast approaching and for some, celebrating love for each other will be a special occasion.

For many others, what appears to be love, may actually be an abusive relationship.

Abuse can take many forms, including emotional, psychological, financial, physical and sexual abuse It can be overt such as aggression, violence, physical injury or financial manipulation; however it can often be much more subtle and insidious including prolonged emotional & psychological abuse in the form of coercive control or narcissistic abuse.

Any kind of abuse can leave you feeling isolated, confused, shamed, disempowered, even losing sight of reality and your own sense of self.

It can escalate gradually, and is often endured for many years. Abuse does not discriminate and can
happen to any woman (or man*) from all walks of life and cultural backgrounds.

The Unchained Phoenix wasinitially established in 2016 but registered as a Community Interest Company in 2020 and is run by eight female directors who have all experienced abuse & are now passionate about helping other women to break free from abusive situations and rebuild their lives.
