Rhamero West

A murder investigation was launched on 9 September 2021 after officers were called to Norton Street in Old Trafford at around 6pm to a report of a stabbing.

Emergency services attended and found 16-year-old Rhamero West from South Manchester, with a number of stab wounds.

Emergency services provided vital medical treatment before he was taken to hospital where he sadly died a short time later.

Detectives investigating his death have been piecing together a number of incidents that occurred prior to his death, including multiple collisions and violent disorder around the Princess Road area of South Manchester.

A 16-year-old male has now been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody for questioning.

Detective Chief Inspector Liz Hopkinson, from GMP’s Major Incident Team, said: “This has been an incredibly fast paced and complex investigation and detectives have been following multiple lines of enquiry as we piece together the events of that day.

“As always our thoughts have been firmly with Rhamero’s family as we investigate and I’m pleased to say we have now made an arrest in connection with his death. It is worth stressing that although we have made this arrest our investigation is continuing and we are still pursuing a number of potential suspects.

“Again, I appeal to any members of the public who were in the area at the time and have dash-cam, CCTV or mobile phone footage to come forward and assist us with our enquiries. The smallest bit of information could prove vital to our investigation and assist us in carrying out further arrests.”
