Only fools and Horses actor John Challis who played Boycie for 20 years has died aged 79.
Challis (Terrance Aubrey) played the second hand car dealer in the show alongside David Jason (Del boy) Nicholas Lyndhurst (Rodney Trotter) Roger Loyd Pack (Trigger) Buster Merryfield (Uncle Albert) and Tessa Peake-Jones (Raquel)
He was born on 16 August 1942 in Bristol, his family moved to East London and attended schools in Surrey, Challis got a job as an estate agent before becoming an actor.
Challis appeared on the small screen many times throughout his career starring in 9 episodes of Crossroads in 1971, 8 episodes of Coronation Street from 1974, one episode of The Sweeney in 1975, and one episode of Open All Hours in 1976.
After his long run in the Only Fools and Horses series which ran from 1981 to 2003 he appeared in Juliet Bravo, Howards Way, The bill, Casualty, Heartbeat, Doctors, Last of the summer wine, Benidorm and even Roland Rat and Sooty!
Challis also starred in Theatre in his glittery career he came to Stockport Plaza starring as Peter Hook in Peter Pan.
Although he was married it is believed he did not have any children.
Sadly John Challis died after a battle with cancer.
