Farmfoods which had its store inside Sale Square Shopping Centre now renamed Stanley Square for many years has closed down.

The store closed for the last time over last weekend offering half price on many items to clear the stock.

Previously the only other discounted store Heron closed due to a new bigger store opening up in Partington which has been a huge success.

The closure of Farmfoods though means Sale has no discounted food shops and are left with Tesco and Sainsbury’s to find food at a reasonable price, M&S offers quality food however not regarded as a cheaper alternative.

Sale shopping area is being transformed at this time into something really nice, modern and up market, however having only a couple of places to do any food shopping could see shoppers turn away and go to other places such as Stretford or even Lidl and Aldi.

Urmston is also a good place to do your food shopping with a new Aldi opening up at Trafford Retail Park.

So for now and for the foreseeable Sale will struggle to bring in more people until Lidl or even an Iceland could come in and help local people giving them a better choice.
