Arrest made after a man approached two school girls in Altrincham

Police have arrested a man after he approached two girls on their way to school.

Today (18/11/21) police arrested a 21-year-old man on suspicion on public order offences, he remains in custody for questioning, this arrest is in relation to an incident where a man approached a girl in Stamford Park at around 7.55am on 10/11/21 and then followed another girl a short time later as she was walking through Altrincham Golf Club.

It is believed the man made inappropriate comments but did not attempt to grab the girls.

Inspector Cross said: “I appreciate that these incidents have caused concern in the community and would like to reassure the public that child safety is a top priority for our officers.

“We take all reports of this nature very seriously and will always investigate thoroughly, which in this case has led to us making an arrest.”
