Lots of Freeview channels will be gone soon and some will change from HD to SD to allow mobile phone operators to use a multiplex for 5G services.

Experts are also saying that many people will start to have some interference because of 5G, this might already be a problem for some people closer to a 5G or even a 4G mast.

The channels lost are:

  • Freesports
  • More 4
  • More 4 +1
  • Forces TV
  • Now 70s
  • BBC News HD (to access BBC News HD you will need to use the iPlayer)
  • BBC Four HD
  • That’s TV
  • QVC HD
  • QVC Beauty HD
  • Quest HD
  • Quest Red
  • CBeebies HD (Daytime)

Mobile operator EE won the rights to the entire multiplex which starts on 30 June 2022, after this date the network will use the spectrum to bring the 5G signal to more places since they have patchy coverage on both 5G and 4G.

EE may have pulled the wrong plug out today as the network suffered an outage during the morning with many customers coming on social media complaining they have no internet access.
