WW2 bomb found in Bridgewater Canal close to Walton Park in Sale

A small WW2 bomb has been found by magnet fishers in the Bridgewater Canal in Sale this afternoon.

Police taped off the scene at the entrance to Walton Park, the bomb is currently wrapped up and near to a seated area.

At this time two officers are currently in situ waiting for the bomb squad to take it away, Walton Park Sports Centre was closing as we left the scene for safety reasons.

It is not known at this time if the bomb is viable or not so understandably no one is taking any risks.
