On this day we remember all those that died in the first and second world wars, and for those that came back home who fought hard for our tiny island.
The first world war ended in 1918 on the 11th hour of the 11th day and of the 11th month, this was a brutal world war that started in 1914, its estimated some 9 million soldiers died in the war, over 5 million innocent civilians died, and millions of people were injured.
Many people perished due to hunger and disease.
This was a brutal world war that was started because of an assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand an Austo-Hungarian heir wh o was shot dead by Bosnian student.
All countries were involved in this war that finally came to an end in 1918, back then of course they had no machinery like we have today, so the clean up must have been a slow process, the building of new places to live and to bring back hospitals must have been a priority.
The world was now getting itself back to normality and peace had won the day, our soldiers came back feeling proud that they had a big hand in keeping the UK safe as can be, and for those that had died defending our country honoured to the highest levels and that remains today.
Tensions started to surface again though when Hitlers Germany started to invade countries in 1938, they took many countries and with it millions of soldiers who had died because of Hitlers actions, but he couldn’t take the UK, our brave men defended the UK despite this Hitlers luftwaffe dropped thousands of small bombs on key infrastructure in Manchester, London and other places which helped cause extensive damage which included Manchester United’s Old Trafford stadium.
Some bombs have been brought to the surface by Magnet Fishers in the Bridgewater Canal through Trafford.
In today’s wars its all political nonsense or the making of an egocentric idiot who wants us all to remember him, Putin’s invasion of Ukraine was senseless, he will surely remembered for being captured and brought before the legal system where his fate will be decided.
Invasions now will not happen in another country due to the threat of nuclear war which will be the end of humanity, this threat is what has kept the peace, even in the mountains the big headed leaders cannot escape death, all the money won’t mean a thing now, the one thing the leaders of every country knows is even if they do ‘for a time’ escape death, they will want to see what is going on.
Humans need to see daylight, need to enjoy the green spaces, feed the wildlife, go shopping, all the things we take granted for they will not be able to do in them mountains anymore, our curiosity though cannot be controlled, the leaders and those in them mountains or caves will after a while begin to explore, wandering outside in the latest radiation suits.
They will be standing in utter shock! all that was green will be black, the sun dimmed, the air would be toxic, the seas even more polluted than normal and radioactive, all animals evaporated, innocent people the same, infrastructure flattened, the leaders will be asking the nuclear scientists and other specialists what can be done and they will tell them “Nothing can be done we are all going to die”
This is why nuclear war will never happen, threats are part and parcel of any country who starts are gets involved in a conflict, what we see in Ukraine is conventional bombs, although much more devastating than the bombs of past wars.
You can remember all those that died in both world wars and pay respects to those that are still alive today who gave it everything to defend our country this Sunday.
