Police were called to an armed robbery at a McColl’s convenience store on Irlam Road in Flixton at approximately 10pm last night (April 5)

Fortunately no serious injuries were sustained and a scene remains in place whilst enquiries continue. No arrests have been made at this time.

Detective Inspector Paul Costello of GMP’s Trafford district, said; “I want to reassure the local community that this fast-paced investigation is still in its early stages but we are making good progress to understand what has happened. We believe it was a targeted attack and there is no wider risk to the public. A Jaguar type vehicle is believed to have been used by the offenders and was recovered further along Irlam Road close to the area of Irlam Locks.

“We are conducting further searches of the area today and there will be a visible police presence as a result. I would urge any members of the local community who heard or saw anything last night, or who may have seen the vehicle in the area leading up to the incident to speak to our officers to ensure we can find those responsible.”
