Trafford Council has approved an application for a huge 7.7 acre battery storage facility located in Carrington.
The battery storage will produce 1.040 megawatts of electricity which will help reduce our needs for fossil fuels and helps supply the National Grid.
With this and a new cryogenic energy storage and a Hydrogen production facility Carrington will have a fully operational low carbon energy park fit for the future.
The new battery storage site will be next to Carrington Power Station, with 1.040 megawatts we looked at what that meant to people, 1 MW is 1000 KW which is 1,000,040 KW which is a huge amount of power to be storing.
The batteries we believe are Lithium iON which as many people are aware can explode and many facilities have had accidents which you can see here
Interestingly although looking through the application many organisations have not objected to the application despite the one notable initial objection was from the Environment Agency (EA) who said:
“We object to the proposed development as submitted because it involves the use of a
non-mains foul drainage system in circumstances where it may be reasonable for the
development to be connected to a public sewer but no justification has been provided
for the use of a non-mains system. We recommend that the application should be
refused on this basis.
Private sewage treatment facilities should only be used where it is not reasonable for a
development to be connected to a public sewer, because of the greater risk of failures
leading to pollution of the water environment posed by private sewerage systems
compared to public sewerage systems“
In a further document submitted by the EA on the application offered no objections with conditions
This statement provides information that will not go down very well with residents of not only Carrington and Partington but with just about everyone else who is concerned about the environment.
With all these new developments now approved including a huge warehousing scheme this also spells more delays on Manchester Road which hits Partington residents more than anyone else.
However despite this objection many organisations that were consulted offered no objection and the council gave the new battery storage plant a full approval.
