As the excitement came during early evening and plans were made for a goodbye to 2023 and a celebration like no other for 2024 however the weather had other plans.
As the clock counted down the last minutes of 2023 the rain came down and sadly no firework celebrations could be heard although some people did brave the weather with a few fireworks going off after midnight.
The rain for most of the evening today (1 January) has not stopped and has seen rivers and brooks in the area steadily rise and another Environment Agency check will see more increases although at the time of publishing Sinderland Brook at Partington is nearest to going on a Flood Alert, Sale and Flixton river levels are falling.
Meanwhile in London the weather was dry and they had more than a special fireworks display all paid for by the tax payer! and sadly a boy aged 16 was knifed in Camden on New Years Eve.
Not a great start to a new year though here in Trafford however many had a great time indoors in many establishments offering some of the best entertainment and food anywhere.
Onwards we go! all the festivities over for another year and life gets back to normal with much to look forward to in 2024.
