Trafford MV to collect league trophy away at Littleborough

This Saturday Trafford MV 1st XV will travel to Littleborough to close off their season as Champions and collect the league winners trophy – to be presented by Lancashire Rugby Senior Vice President Brian Hurst at the end of the game.

Trafford have already secured the title and promotion but they will be very conscious that Littleborough will be out to spoil their party.

Games between the clubs are always keenly contested and Trafford will be keen to show they can cope with whatever is thrown at them as they look to step up to Counties 1 ADM League.

Head Coach Brian Collier and 1st XV captain Danny Burke will be keeping their final selection close to their chest until announced on Friday and they will have a close eye on the weather too as to what condition the Littleborough pitch will be in. The expectation is that the going will be heavy! 

Trafford MV opened their season against Littleborough and kicked off their promotion campaign with a 31-12 home win and a similar win away from home on the last day of the season would go down well. The team are hoping to see plenty of Black and White on the touchline cheering them on.

Traffords 2nd XV will continue their own promotion chase at home playing Leigh 3rd XV. Currently sitting 3rd Trafford will be looking for a win and for 2nd placed Littleborough to slip up and open up the promotion places. Trafford will be feeling confident with a young fit side playing on an excellent home pitch and after a 14-73 away win at Leigh back in October.

TMV’s 3rd XV are also playing at home this weekend as they welcome Manchester Hawks to MacPherson Park. The reverse fixture was played at the start of the season with Manchester winning a close fought game 42-21.

Trafford MV hold Walking Rugby sessions on Wed evenings at 6.30pm primarily aimed at over 50’s male/females but open to anyone that is interested in participating in a minimal contact (touch rugby) version of the game.
