A huge fire at Altrincham Lodge behind The Pelican Pub has caused chaos on the A56 in Timperley during the afternoon (26 April)

Police were on hand to stop the traffic in both directions during the afternoon as firefighters worked hard to put the fire out which they did but left the area looking like fog had formed due to the smoke which was described at the scene as smelling like rubber.

This is the second time the abandoned ‘Motel’ has been torched and already political and public pressure is gaining ground for the council to see what they can do to fully bulldoze the entire ‘U’ shaped building which is now more dangerous than it was.

We believe no one was injured in this fire which is why no ambulances were on the scene.

Some members of the community are claiming kids are responsible and were seen hanging around the lodge on 25 April although no official statements from either Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue or Greater Manchester Police have yet been seen at the time of publishing.

We will update the article when we have a statement to hand.
