Partington residents near the new Padel Centre at Fuse on Warburton Lane are concerned about noise levels and the closing time, which should be 10pm according to the initial application.

One resident, Andrew, contacted News4Trafford about the problems he and his neighbors faced since the Padel Centre opened. He shared videos showing noise levels, with some recordings taken well past the 10 PM deadline, including one that was recorded just after midnight.

We reached out to Trafford Council and the Padel Courts manager. The council stated they had told the manager to comply, but the manager disputed the noise issue claims, suggesting that the noise survey was accurate.

It seemed to work for a while, and Andy kept us updated on what was happening. There was still a lot of litter and noise as people left, but we didn’t receive any more emails, so we thought everything was back to normal for Andy and his neighbors. Then, a new application was submitted by the Padel Centre.

The new application, 118758/VAR/26, wants to change the operating hours from 8 am to 10 pm to 6 am to 11 pm. This surprised everyone, and even the Parish Council objected to the new hours, worrying about light pollution and not enough parking.

Andrew tried to contact the Trafford Labour councillors but didn’t get a reply. Initially, the support was poor. We contacted the council, and they responded that the manager had 7 days to comply or face further action.

We reached out to the manager, and after a few emails, it was clear he was not going to accept our suggestions for soundproofing the Padel courts or even adding some barriers to redirect the sound. He believed the noise levels were already low enough.

Now, this new application to extend the hours is too much. From what we’ve heard, the council might refuse this second application, which would be a big win for the residents.

The Padel Centre is relatively new and very popular, and it’s a great sport to try out. We hope it continues to do well, ideally staying open from 8 am to 10 pm.
