All is not doom and gloom at Trafford MV Rugby Club despite the relegation of the 1st XV following 2 seasons competing in the higher division since winning promotion in 2023/24 season.

Behind the scenes there has been a focus on creating a structured pathway for the young players in the Club to grow and develop with an eye on success and reaching the best of their ability.

The last 2 seasons has seen a number of young players stepping up into senior men’s rugby and representing the club at 1st and 2nd team level in what are tough arena’s to play, these players have made their mark and will impress again this season.

Behind these players there is an ever expanding number of teenagers at all age groups pushing themselves and their peer groups on to better things. Coaches and parents can all see the great strides that the players are making and can be suitable proud.

Silverware was brought back to the Clubhouse by the U13s, U15’s and U17’s as they all won their respective Cup competitions and these successes will be celebrated at the teams individual presentation evenings over the coming weeks.

At the top end of these age groupsTrafford MV had 3 players gain their county places as Lancashire U17’s faced their Yorkshire counterparts in Hull. The Lanc’s team did enough to come home with a 12-19 away win on the day, well done to Ryan, Rees and Harry from TMV on their contribution to the game.

There will be a bit of a lull on the rugby front as the season draws to a close and players rest and recuperate in readiness for next season. However the wheels are in motion on the recruitment side as players of all ages right the way down from seniors to mini’s are encouraged to contact the Club and find a place in the relevant teams.

With great pitches and facilities the club has everything a rugby player needs to grow their game. If you are interested in playing Rugby at a great community sports Club then Trafford MV could be the place for you – contact wilfdooley@virginmedia.com for further info.

Trafford MV has great social facilities too with 2 clubrooms, regular socials, cafe and patio area, coverage of main sports events on big screens plus lots more activities including pilates and bootcamp for those wanting non rugby fitness.
