With the Summer upon us, and the rain clouds gathered, all attention in normal circles turn toward the football World Cup in Canada / Mexico / USA and all its intricacies.
However in the sporting world of Rugby club all thoughts are on preparing and building for the season ahead through player recruitment, squad building and pre-season training and games.
Trafford MV Rugby Club based in Sale (M33 6LR) is no exception to this and the first part is now kicking into place with the call going out for new players to join the ranks at all levels for the campaign ahead.
The Club is looking to freshen up it’s current playing squads with the introduction of new playing talent from across the borough giving opportunity for local rugby players to snap up the chance to play competitive 1st and 2nd XV rugby. The Club will also be looking to field a Social/Vets XV with friendly fixtures through the season – so rugby for all abilities being played.
So – the call is there ! If you have Rugby ambitions at 1st XV level, if you have played rugby previously and want to get back playing, If you want to play occasional ‘friendly’ rugby or if you are a young guy looking to make your first steps in adult rugby then we would love to hear from you at Trafford MV and give you the chance to play regular rugby.
If you have this interest then please contact Jamie Butler at mensrugby@tmvrfcc.co.uk –  do it now before you forget where you’ve seen it !
For social rugby players out there the Club runs Touch Rugby sessions on Saturday mornings at 9.00am and on Monday evenings at 7.00pm – these are open to males and females and anyone over 13 years (youngsters with an adult please).
Minimal contact version of the game with fun as it’s focus, plenty of running and ball handling, a good introduction to the game for players new to the game.
There is also Walking Rugby for over 50’s – again a touch rugby format of the game but at a slower pace to suit older players – again for men and women, this is also a great way for older sporty people to have good social interaction and make new friends.
The Club is open throughout the Summer months with regular cricket matches being played and big sporting events being shown in the Clubhouse – this week we will be showing the opening game of the FIFA World Cup Mexico vs South Africa and then all of the big games, including England and Scotland (shown at reasonable viewing times !).
Coming up will be the Rugby Prem Final on June 20th and the Rugby Nations Championship being played through July with South Africa opening against England on July 4th . Join us for all the big sporting action as well as our own live sport on the fields of Trafford MV’s MacPherson Park. Support local grassroots sport on your doorstep.
