Police got calls to reports of a stabbing on Heather Walk in Partington at around 6pm last night (7 July)
A man aged 72 was found on private property with a stab wound and a woman at the property was arrested on suspicion of causing GBH (Grievous Bodily Harm) and a man was also arrested for assisting the offender.
The Air Ambulance was called out and landed on Millbank Fields behind Your Housing Group Gilmour House, on FR24 (Flight Radar 24) the Helicopter (H72)was seen hovering over Partington at around 5.40pm looking for somewhere near to land.
The elderly man is currently in hospital fighting for his life, we believe he was taken by normal ambulance likely to be either Salford Royal or Manchester Royal Infirmary hospital as both are specialist trauma centres.
A scene is still in place around the property as Police enquires continue.
A Greater Manchester Police spokesperson said: “Officers were called to reports of a stabbing on Heather Walk in Partington at around 6:05pm last night (Tuesday 7 July 2026).
“A 72-year-old man remains in a critical condition in hospital after suffering a stab wound. A woman was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and a man was also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
“Scenes remain in place and enquiries are ongoing. This was an isolated incident with no wider threat to the public.”
