Emergency Services called to a bad industrial fire in Irlam

A huge fire broke out at an industrial estate in Irlam at around 4.45pm today 19 July 2026 which could be seen for miles around.

People from the Partington area had a limited view of the fire at the scene salthough had a good view of the smoke billowing out of the pallet firm which lasted a while as fire fighters tackled the blaze.

The Air Ambulance was seen going towards the area however its currently unknown if it landed.

Smoke covered Partington and with it came toxic smells but wasn’t enough for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service to issue a warning for the area although its expected to have issued one for the immediate area.

We have also contacted Network Rail about the access to Cadishead Viaduct which kids were seen trying to get a better view, with one of them only inches potentially from falling to his death.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: “Shortly after 4:45 this afternoon (Sunday 19th July), six fire engines from across Greater Manchester were called to fire on Brinell Drive, Irlam.

“Crews arrived quickly and are currently working to extinguish the fire involving a large number of pallets.

“Firefighters remain in attendance at this time.”
