Mystery as Network Rail creates a new path in Broadheath

People that did not get a letter from Network Rail will have been overjoyed to see a new path created by the side of the disused rail line in Broadheath.

Cclr Stephane Ulrich who is a Lib Dems councillor created a video of the path on Facebook and since then one of our reporters went down to see the work that had been done with no information to hand as to who was responsible.

The councillor confirmed the work had been done on the abandoned rail corridor (That goes from Skelton Junction in Timperely out towards Cadishead in Salford) by Network Rail and not Trafford Council as some may have thought, we then contacted Network Rail who responded telling us a letter had been sent out to people about the work.

The work should have been completed as we publish this article, since the rail corridor is entirely owned by Network Rail they are still responsible for upkeep.

If walking down that way be wary of nettles and other dangerous looking vegetation, even the ballast (Stones) can be dangerous, some of which could contain asbestos and other chemicals that could cause harm if you come into contact with a substance.

Having a cycle/run/walk path would help many people, mostly used by cyclists would be a great route to take and would get more people buying bikes, keeping fit and enhancing mental wellbeing.

If it became a Rail or Metrolink route would also be very welcomed for everyone, either way its a win win situation, what blocks this is political interest, Network Rail and money.
