The Manchester Mayoral elections 2026 have now concluded and we have a winner to take over Andy Burnham who is now Prime Minister.
Labour’s Bev Craig won by a huge overall majority to runner up Sian Astley of Reform Party with first and second preference votes.

- Bev Craig (Labour): 309,525
- Sian Astley (Reform UK): 157,178
- Geraldine Coggins (Green): 64,968
- Marlon West (Restore Britain) 46,289
- Phil Eckersley (Conservative) 41,021
- Richard Kilpatrick (Liberal Democrats) 14,702
- Marcus Farmer (Independent) 2,969
Here in Trafford the turnout was 35.12% (62,341) here’s how it went in our borough:
- Bev Craig (Labour) 30.966
- Phil Eckersley (Tories) 9,315
- Sian Astley (Reform UK) 8,620
- Geraldine Coggins (Green) 8,037
- Marlon West (Restore) 3,136
- Richard Kilpatrick (Lib Dems) 1,659
- Marcus Farmer (Independent) 181
Reform UK’s Sian Astley who is a councillor was heavily tipped to do very well in Trafford but it was closer than expected between Trafford Tory councillor Phil Eckersley and Trafford Green Party leader Geraldine Coggins fighting it out.
Restore Britain’s Marlon West did very well in Trafford who gave lots of support not only for himself but for Restore who are making up ground on the others.
The biggest congratulations though go to Manchester City Council leader, Bev Craig who won in a big way in Greater Manchester who voted her to be the new Mayor of Greater Manchester replacing Andy Burnham.
Many people on social media and in the community have questioned how it could be that Andy Burnham goes from being Mayor of Manchester to win a quick by-election then he turns around and now the Prime Minister without any public vote!
