Aircraft that were meant to be landing at London’s LHR and Gatwick are now diverting to Manchester Airport this afternoon until the technical issues are sorted out.
The technical issues were due to NATS (National Air Traffic Service) flight processing system, and engineers are getting things back on track again. It is not currently known why this has happened.
Manchester Airport has several flights diverted including a BA A380 and Malaysia Airlines A350, more are likely to be diverted as we go to publish, with the heavy showers making visibility poor at Manchester Airport.
Fans of aviation are all checking flight Radar 24 for more diverts through the day and watching YouTube or TikTok live streams if they cannot make it to Manchester Airport, despite the rain and disruption those at the airport will have got very excited to see the BA A380 and the Malaysian Airlines A350 landing and the footage safely saved.
For anyone flying out today or needing information you are asked to contact your airline.
