Walton Park in Sale is a special bit of green space that attracts all walks of life, it has events throughout the year and has a tennis and basketball court and a well looked after bowling green, the park also has a full sized football pitch and mini train line.

Despite all that is on offer including lots of wildlife looked after by local people, it only has a very small playground for kids and although it has had some refurbishment in recent times it needs a new play structure to replace a wooden climbing frame which will be suitable for kids over five.

The council was set to replace the wooden climbing structure; however, according to the park group, that was not what they wanted. Instead, they have a clear vision for what they do want — something that, although small, would cost an estimated £85,000. To raise the money, the park group plans to apply for funding from a variety of sources and is seemingly hopeful of success.

A Go Fund Me page has also been set up and has £1,270 raised which is impressive and shows also that the public are on board with the plans, although some are in opposition to the plans with people telling us that they only found out about the plans by reading the info tied to fencing and had no consultation.

The Majority though are on board, if you want to add to the balance giving kids something a bit special further enhancing the park then you can do by clicking here: https://www.gofundme.com/f/friends-of-walton-park-sale-replacement-play-equipment?cp_src=d
