Watch and learn about ‘Hearing Dogs’ at Trafford Centre

Watch Hearing Dogs in action, demonstrating their life-changing skills, and meet the next generation of puppies in training at a lively, highly visual event at Trafford Centre.

The event will give Trafford Centre visitors the chance to learn more about the life-changing work of Hearing Dogs for Deaf People and discover how they can get involved.

In particular, the charity will be appealing for local dog lovers to consider becoming puppy and dog training volunteers, helping give them the skills they need to transform the lives of people with hearing loss.

The event will take place outside Vodafone store on 21 September between 10am and 5pm with hearing dogs demonstrations between 10.30am and 12.15pm and Puppy classes: 11.30am and 1.30pm

Hearing Dogs for Deaf People is a national charity that trains dogs that help deaf people leave loneliness behind and gives them the confidence to reconnect with their family, friends and community around them. The charity’s practical and emotional support services make sure that no one has to face the impacts of hearing loss alone.

See a hearing dog’s life-changing skills in action: Go behind the scenes for two lively, highly visual demonstrations led by an expert trainer and demonstration dog. Capture the moment the dog wakes a volunteer to an alarm clock, then responds to a cooker timer and mobile phone – showing, in real time, how hearing dogs give deaf people greater independence and confidence.

Capture the next generation of hearing dog puppies in training (12 months-old +) as they build confidence around the sights, sounds and movement of a busy public space. The puppies will practise staying calm and focused around a mobility scooter, kiddy cart and cleaning cart.
