A new community initiative in Stretford is tackling isolation and building connection for adults living with ADHD. Founded by local resident Martin Donnelly, The Blueprint ADHD Support & Skills C.I.C. and the ADHD Unite Network UK have launched a free weekly peer-support group alongside an ambitious community allotment project.

Driven by his own lived experience of ADHD and recovery, Martin Donnelly started the project to create a space where people feel understood rather than isolated or ashamed.

The Peer-Support Group

The group, offers lived-experience peer support where adults can better understand their ADHD, share everyday coping strategies, and connect with others facing similar challenges.

  • When: Every Wednesday from 7:00 PM – 8:30 PM (Doors open at 6:45 PM).
  • Where: St Matthew’s Church, Stretford (M32 9AJ).
  • Cost: Entirely free to attend, though voluntary donations are welcome.
  • Commitment: This is an ongoing weekly group rather than a time-limited course, allowing members to attend for as long as they need support.

In tandem with the weekly meetings, the organisation is transforming a local plot into the Blueprint community allotment. The project aims to bring people together through therapeutic gardening, outdoor teamwork, and practical activities.

Progress is already well underway. Recent photographs shared by the group show a dramatic transformation from an overgrown, original plot into a structured community space, complete with a newly built, covered wooden community seating area.

How to Get Involved

In addition to the group and the allotment, the organisation has developed ADHD information packs and skills resources, including dedicated materials to help parents and families navigate the condition.

The project is currently looking to expand its reach and is calling on the Trafford community for backing. They are actively seeking:

  • Local volunteers to help maintain the allotment and support group activities.
  • Local businesses willing to donate materials, tools, or practical trade support to help complete the outdoor space.
