Match Report – Wilf Dooley
As storms blew across the country Trafford MV found themselves in the midst of their own storm at league leaders Littleborough in ADM Lancs/Cheshire 2.
Trafford went into the game missing a number of regular players through injury and not available but made good headway in the first half despite the terrible conditions.
Mica Dyos opened the scoring following good forward drives playing down the slope for a 0-5 lead. Littleborough forces a penalty in the MV ’22 which then resulted in an easy score and conversion for the home side which took them into a half time lead at 7-5.
In the second half Littleborough made better use of the slope and conditions in front of the dwindling crowd driven under cover by the driving wind and rain ! The upper hand was grasped with an early try followed by a well kicked penalty 15-7. This was built on with a further try under the posts 22-7 but a yellow card came for the home hooker.
Trafford forced a 5-metre scrum, from which stand-off Aaron Booth scored and converted to make it 22-12. Littleborough secured their home win with a further converted try, extending the score to 29-12, which saw them remain unbeaten in the league and Trafford slip to 3rd place behind Garstang, who beat bottom-placed Glossop 12-27.
This coming Saturday Trafford MV will be at home with Liverpool Collegiate as the opposition for a 2.15pm kick off.
