Trafford Planning Committee will meet up on Bonfire Night to decide one of the most objected applications ‘118033’ The Carrington Relief Road.

The planning report shows the application is to be granted which does not always mean it will be approved, however most officer granted reports tend to sail through even with opposition.

With over 1000 public and business objections and two consultations this cannot be ignored by the council, however the council needs to approve the application due to the risk of losing 5000 new homes and other infrastructure such as a new school and a GP surgery along with shops for Carrington.

A data centre will be at the heart of this huge project which is thought to be one of the biggest in Europe, these things are at risk if the council refuses the application to build the relief road.

The trouble for the council is the people don’t want the useless road, the data centre due to its pollution and extra EMF’s (Electromagnetic Frequencies) and without any doubts the destruction of Carrington Moss and yet more green belt land which we should be keeping not destroying.

Many people cannot fully understand why the council won’t use the all but abandoned railway as a sustainable route to fix many of the issues for Partington people and the wider communities in Trafford, it has been spoken about for decades and yet under the blue of the Tories and the red of Labour the rail line stays abandoned.

The latest is that the rail corridor will be renamed and made into a cycle/walk/run path but not until 2045! This is not good enough.

Councillors will describe the relief road as a good route that will resolve the traffic chaos when all it will do is create more chaos, disturb wildlife, and if you are from Partington it will do more harm than good, it goes further than just the relief road and the warehouses and a huge data centre.

The council approved all the huge housing developments bar one and it was obvious to everyone else other than them that Partington has next to no infrastructure to cope, it was like they had some glitch with reality thinking that none of these new people would come with a car or that they wouldn’t need a school for their children and a new GP surgery.

Having a small shopping area that is already not good enough means more people need to go elsewhere for shopping, or have it delivered online, this is something else that creates more traffic, it is not just Partington residents who come into Partington.

This entire thing is not just about a relief road, it’s much more and with some glimmer of hope those councillors will remember this on bonfire night when they all meet up and decide not just on a road but the future for Partington and Carrington residents who will have to live a different way all due to the councillors who approved it on 5 November 2026.
