police are appealing for information after a man suffered cuts to his neck whilst cycling in Stretford

Shortly after 4.45pm on July 10 the male was cycling along the footpath at the rear of Cheshire Close, Stretford Meadows.

As he cycled down a hill he collided with a plastic coated wire that had been tied between two trees across the footpath leaving him with cuts to his neck

Police are now urging the public to come forward.

Detective Inspector Carl Gilbert, of GMP’s Trafford Division said: “This was a premeditated act on a man who was simply out riding his bike.

“It has left the victim with some nasty cuts to his neck and he’s lucky the injuries were not more serious.

“It happened on a popular walking route at a busy time of day and we would like to appeal to anyone who may have been in the area at the time and saw anything that can help us with our investigation to come forward.”

Anyone with information should call police on 101 or anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
