Samsung S8 was unpacked today March 29 which went out live on their website and on YouTube.
The S8 had to impress after the company lost millions after a safety recall of its Note phablet handset, in which several handsets caught fire due to a battery issue, gladly the S8 did impress and we have a look at what you get for your money, we will also explore the best places to get your handset from with regards to both cost and tariff.
The specifications for the S8 are top-notch, a true flagship phone that you are going to love! the screen has no side bezel, although smaller black strips can be seen at the top and bottom of the device, purely for sensors and speakers.
It is the screen and security software that stands out the most on the S8, the sizes have increased slightly over last years S7, it has a 5.8″ super Amoled capacitive touchscreen with Corning Gorilla Glass and IP68 water and dust proof protection.
The camera on the S8 whilst being one if not the best mobile phone camera on the market has not been improved much on last years model with a 12 megapixel main camera and a 8 megapixel selfie camera, the processor for the UK is the Exynos 8895 which is an Octa-Core processor running in at 4 x 2.3 and 4 x 1.7GHZ, the device has 4GB RAM and has 64GB on board memory with further expansion via a Micro SD slot that can take a 128GB card.
One of the things I liked about this phone was the iris scanner, you just look at the phone and recognises your face to open up the handset, leaving the finger print sensor on the back fairly useless.
The Battery is 3000 MAH which should last a day with minimal use, and has all the connectivity you need with 4G support and this device has fast charging via a type-C connector.
We looked for the best price for you, and of course a good tariff so you’re not going to be charged something the size of South Africa at the end of the month due to depletion of a bundle you may have.
Carphone Warehouse I can tell you will not be where you want to look for the S8 or the S8+ although they have some great deals on the S7.
Three has the cheapest deal at this time, but the tariff is poor, their cheapest deal is £35 a month, remember always make sure you look at the tariff before going “WOW!” I know it is tempting £35 a month for this brand new handset, but the networks know you will go outside of your tariff more so with data, and this is where they eat away at your bank balance!
The minimum amount of data you should get is 1GB if you’re a heavy user then 3GB will be more than enough more so if you use Wi-fi at home, the minuets must be unlimited and the texts also, you will be charged for picture messages.
Always look around for the best deal, d your reasearch before you press that ‘buy’ button and you will be good to go, the S8 will be available in the next couple of weeks.
