Police Are Investigating After A Woman Was Raped At A Car Park In Old Trafford

A woman was raped at a car park in Old Trafford,the incident happened in the early hours of April 4.

The woman was walking to a shop on Chester Road and asked a man for a cigarette, the man then said he would only share it with her if she walked to Old Trafford Metrolink station.

They both walked together, the man crossed the road and told her to come to the Warwick House car park, she refused and then she was dragged into the car park and he raped her.

The man is described as being Asian, short black hair and stubble, he was around 5ft 6ins and aged around 40-years-old, he was wearing a black leather jacket and jeans and spoke with a Manchester accent.

Police have launched an investigation and are now appealing for information.

Detective Inspector Carl Gilbert, of GMP’s Trafford borough said: “This is an absolutely shocking incident and one that is sure to cause much concern to anybody who hears what happened.

“We have a significant team working on this investigation and have increased patrols in the local community while we carry out further esquires.

“This man subjected his victim to a terrifying rape and we have a team of specially trained officers providing her with support at this difficult time.

“The attacker was completely unknown to the woman and I would ask the people of Old Trafford to please contact the investigation team if they believe they have seen anything suspicious.”
