Former Stretford adnd Urmston MP Bev Hughes has been appointed as Deputy Mayor of Manchester for police and crime by the new Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham.

Baroness Bev Hughes became the MP for Stretford & Urmston in 1997 and stepped down in 2010 when Kate Green took over,
Andy Burnham who won the elections yesterday by a landslide appointed two other people to help him in a senior role which is Richard Leese who is the leader of Manchester City Council and councillor Rishi Shori.
